New York City Comes to Town for Art Gala

New York Art Bonds with Habitat Cause

North Potomac, MD (March 9, 2011) – Friday May 6 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday May 7 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County (HFH-MC) will be working with Tina’s Gallery of Potomac for their 19th annual gala, A New York State of Mind. The exhibit will take place at 13536 Hunting Hill Way, North Potomac, MD 20878. A portion of the proceeds from the event will directly help HFH-MC continue its work to build simple, decent, energy efficient, affordable homes for low-income families.

A New York State of Mind will be highlighting a wide array of contemporary styles of art from wired to 3D and many other modern pieces from the featured artists of the gallery. The gallery’s vignettes will take exhibitors down the streets of New York City; from Manhattan to Harlem. The event will also feature crafts, home décor and giveaways for guests. This one of a kind exhibit will bring all the flavors and experiences New York life can offer in one event.

HFH-MC will host the Habitat Café where, for a small donation, guests can enjoy New York Style refreshments, as they tour the exhibit. “We are so excited to be working with Tina’s Gallery for this event; it is a beautiful way to bring the culture of New York City to Montgomery County and help support the mission of Habitat,” stated Adeela Abbasi, HFH-MC ReStore Manager. In addition to the pieces for sale, there will be a raffle to win artwork from Tina’s Gallery with proceeds going to HFH-MC.

The show will be held over Mother’s Day weekend and ladies are encouraged to come and be served by members from the University of Maryland 2010 ACC Champion Men’s Soccer team.

“What could be a better way to spend Mother’s Day weekend than to give your mother, wife, or friend artwork from the gallery and experience all the beauty that New York City has to offer while supporting a great cause in Habitat for Humanity!” commented Tina’s Gallery owner and curator of the upcoming gala, Tina Rahman.
